Ambassadors of the Environment at The Ritz-Carlton

Hawaiian Paddle SportsWe had a great time working with the instructors of Hawaiian Paddle Sports along with the staff from the Ambassadors of the Environment Program at the Ritz-Carlton in Kapalua yesterday.  We spend most of our time creating memorable  Maui family photography and Maui wedding photography and being asked to capture a Hawaiian Blessing  Ceremony is always a real honor for us.  Mahalo nui loa!

Our Road to Hana Experience

The Road to Hana –

Pipiwai Trail

600 switchbacks

54 one-lane bridges

taking you past water falls, soaring cliffs and through tropical jungle.

That’s what’s advertised. Here’s what we experienced…

Hawaiian Paddle Sports makes the grade!

surfing the coveI first had the pleasure of meeting Tim Lara in 2007. He took pity on the scared, excited, beginner surfer that I was and told me that he could teach me to surf. When we met down at the Cove, I took one look at this athletic kid who was asking me to “pop up on the board” and decided he must be crazy. Within the hour he really did have me popping up on the board, but the experience was more than that. It was his genuine […]

Penny Palmer Photography talks to Maui Weekly about volunteering in Maui

The Penny Palmer Photography team is especially grateful to be able to volunteer with different organizations around Maui.  Volunteering in Maui is something you can do when you visit or as residents in Maui county. We have a few favorite organizations we like to work with and would love to hear about yours! Aloha mai e!

Recently we were asked to give a few statements about why we volunteer for Kihei Fourth Fridays.  Penny is a local wedding photographer and Darci is a wedding celebrant for the State of Hawaii.  Both activities keep us busy but we are proud to be able to […]

Haleakala Park will leave you with stars in your eyes…

Haleakala Park – 19,680 feet above sea level…

Haleakala ParkWhether you make the drive for sunrise or sunset, a visit up Haleakala Park will leave you breathless and in awe. Traffic is light in the twilight hours but make sure you check your weather reports as the conditions up at the crater are always different than sea level. Rising 10,023 feet up brings on cold temperatures and sometimes even hail and snow.

During daylight on a clear day, you can see about 115 miles out to the horizon. When the cloud cover […]

Haiku Hoolaulea

Haiku HoolauleaThis weekend’s Festival was filled with fun for all ages! Haiku Hoolaulea was an opportunity for vendors to sell their local treats, art and clothing as well as a place to display the beautiful flowers and produce native to our area. Parking was a bit crazy, but the venue itself was laid out nicely with plenty of walking space, dancing areas and open grass to sit down and eat.

With performances all weekend by local hits like Marty Dread, there was always something coming from the speakers that added to the […]
