Pa’ia’s 16th Annual Beachfest Bodyboard and Surf Competition was last Saturday and what a great day for it! North shore coastline was booming with great waves and beautiful sunshine for this fun event. Athletes of all ages showed off their skills, tricks and barrel-riding abilities. The PYCC Webcam was available to monitor the waves and action throughout the event.

On October 8, 2012, Travis and Kelsey came from Alaska to be married on the beautiful Makena Resort Beach. As their wedding photographers in Maui, we were proud to be witnesses to such a lovely day for them. We met early and did a full shoot in the beautiful Makena Resort Arboretum before their ceremony. We have to admit that we love our lifeguards on the Kamaole Beaches in Maui’s South Side.They’re not only polite, but also responsive and in great physical condition.
Maui ensures that their lifeguards remain both physically and mentally in shape and as regular beach-goers, we are thankful for this!!
Just this morning a tourist called 9-1-1 to report a swimmer that was “drowning” on Kamaole Beach II.
Withing minutes the lifeguards were out in the water searching where they thought the swimmer went under.

As we prepare to leave for Maui we’re spending quite a bit of time researching local Maui volunteer organizations to coordinate stewardship opportunities for our home schooled daughter and family. We believe that Maui is no ka oi and giving back to the island for all it gives us is important.
In the past we’ve volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity, Maui Chapter. This organization does a lot of amazing projects on Maui. They even offer short term volunteer projects that make it possible for mainlanders to volunteer while visiting Maui!
